At Terartai, we’ve always believed in pushing for a more inclusive world. And today, we’ve stayed true to that vision through sustainability.
Earlier this year, we began using deadstock fabrics to line our products. These humble beginnings inspired us to reimagine new ways of amplifying the stories of our gifted artists, where every artwork is a testament to the growth, resilience and beauty of their lives. And while our products have been a well-loved vessel of showcasing these wonderful stories-- what would it look like if our products embodied our ethos more? What would it look like to create a product line that was even kinder to our planet?
Introducing, the Enable-Link™ series, an innovative line reflecting our philosophy of #EveryoneHasAGift. Our new collection represent:
Versatility
Designed to grow with your day-to-day needs by attaching and detaching to one another, every piece amplifies the stories of our gifted artists while embodying your style and keeping up with the fullness of life on the go.
Whether it’s through its expandability or trasnformability, each piece was created to have more than one function. While our Pouch 2.0 creates the ideal go-to bag compartment, when worn solo it can double as a sling bag and when paired with the Everyday Tote, transforms into a detachable pocket. The Art Pocket, on the other hand, transforms into a clutch with endless possibilities, while also doubling as a detachable pocket when worn with the Everyday Tote. And when it comes to our bags, easily pack your yogamat into the Everyday Tote and upgrade your organization with the Art Pocket and Pouch 2.0. And when it comes to the iconic Foldiechute 2.0, easily fold it up into an easily packable piece that you can carry anywhere, ready to expect the unexpected.
Waste Reduction
With multi-functionality designed into the core of each product, we’ve also maximized our deadstock fabric usage. With the Pouch 2.0 upcycling 0,076 m2, the Everyday Tote upcycling 0.1106 m2 , the Foldiechute 2.0 upcycling 0.486 m2 and the Art Pocket upcycling 0.2288 m2 deadstock fabric per unit, each product is a vibrant balance of sustainability and inclusivity. In the same vein, this ethos of responsible material sourcing still rang true in the collaborative creation of the Tassel. Made in collaboration with Expression of Hadiprana and Mortier, every tassel recycles 3.3 units of HDPE plastic bottle caps, adding the perfect touch of elegance to any piece.
Zero-Waste Principles
Born out of zero waste pattern-making principles, the triangular shape of the Foldiechute 2.0 and the square shape of the Art Pocket, limits waste from being created in the production process by using both the negative and positive space found in all patterns. In the Foldiechute 2.0, for example, the armhole cutout that is often thrown away in most bags, has been repurposed into a tying mechanism to secure items, while also doubling as a decorative and iconic element when folded up for storage. And even in the details of our products, each impact label have been created from fabric offcuts and B-grade fabrics, ensuring that even the smallest pieces contribute to our mission of sustainability.
Set with each product’s own individual iconic look and feel, the Enable-Link™ series is more than your average product line. From zero-waste principles to responsible material sourcing, the Enable-Link™ series provides pathways for everyone, including people with special needs, to create sustainably, tell their stories through art and have better access to vocational opportunities.
